A make-up is a one-off place in a class the child does not normally attend. It is not a move and not a new weekly seat — it is this week only.

1. Check the child is allowed one

Whether replacements are offered, and whether they need approval, is a rule on the package the family bought. Some packages allow them freely, some need a manager, some do not allow them at all.

If you cannot see the option, that is the package's rules rather than your permissions.

2. Find a class with room

Schedule → Available Slot shows the whole week as a grid: class type, coach, branch, and how full each class is. Filter by Branch, Class Type and Coach, and use Hide Full Classes.

The copy buttons save real time. They copy the week's free slots as plain text you can paste straight into a message to the parent — one slot free, two free, three free.

3. Add the child to that session

Open the class and add the student as a one-off booking rather than slotting them in. They appear on that session's register only, and their normal weekly seat is untouched.

Watch which package it charges

The picker lists every package that could pay, with its credits and dates. Two things to look at before you confirm:

  • A term that has not started yet is marked with its start date and a warning above the Add button. It stays selectable, because sometimes charging next term is exactly what you mean — but the usual answer is no. Charging it early takes a credit the child has not reached.
  • Left alone, Hull picks the package that was valid on the day of the class, preferring one already part-used. That is normally the right one.

If the wrong package was picked, fix it at the poolside

The package chosen when the make-up was booked used to be final. At marking time it beat every rule, and unmarking and re-marking simply replayed the same wrong choice — so a booking that named the wrong package could not be corrected at all, and repeated attempts just spent the wrong credit again.

Now the booking's choice is honoured where it agrees with the rules, or where it is the only package that can pay. Where the booking and the rules disagree, the register asks you, and your answer settles it — at the poolside, on the day, which is where somebody actually notices.

The dialog says which situation it is asking about, rather than offering a bare list of packages. Read the sentence before you choose: "this booking names a package the rules would not pick" is a different question from "there is more than one that could pay".

4. Mark them present on the day

A make-up is a real class: when they attend, a credit comes off, exactly as it would in their own class. Nothing else needs doing.

The child who missed the original class still owes nothing extra — unless that absence was marked Missed, which charges for it. Marking Missed *and* giving a free make-up charges the family twice. Pick one.
The head instructor for that branch is told. A make-up booking sends an alert to the branch heads, so an extra child on a register is never a surprise to whoever is teaching that session.
